Blazerman Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I got this jury duty notice in the mail for St Charles a couple days ago and I said to the wife, hope I get to be a juror on a good case. She said what do you mean, what would be a good case? So I thought about it a while and came up with one. There is a bar that has dancers like show girls. But the local police have gotten complaints about it being too lewd so they begin sending cops in the place to secretly film these dancers because they believe it is pornography. They arrest everybody and charge them with creating and distributing pornography or something like that. The bar owners have claimed the dancing is a form of artistic entertainment and in court that will be their defense. So they jury has to watch all the film and then decide one way or the other. That in my mind would be an interesting case. Strictly from a legal stand point of course.
fishinwrench Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I can only imagine your wifes reaction to your choice of cases I'd expect a case of that nature would never go to trial because.... 1. Local ordinances would determine any evidence pretty cut & dried, and both the prosecutor and the defense would easily be able to sort it out. 2. An unbiased jury would be nearly impossible to round up. People, as a whole, are either Strip clubs YES!, or Strip clubs NO!
Greasy B Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I only sat on a jury one time. I was impressed, dismayed and entertained by the stereotypical hard nosed prosecutor and the liberal defense lawyer. Two days of real life drama acted out, then being empowered to decide the fate of a fellow citizen, it's strong stuff. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 It's good to know concerned citizens such as yourself our still willing to sacrifice their time for a good case. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
