I was sort of shocked this morning. Headed to church bright an early and then did some shopping after that. But the suprise was I bet we saw over a 1000 geese total heading north!! I hope they have their tire chains on when they try to land. They are going to need it. lol Must be warmer weather around the corner. YEA!!!

When I was up at Hawker Saturday afternoon I made a loop through the park there. There was a small patch of open water a few hundred yards inside the mouth of Hawker the water was filled with snows and blues and a bunch were just standing on the ice. Best guess would be about 500 and I have no idea why that were'nt in the open water just a feww hundred yards away. Saw a few in a field on 39 highway north of Arcola.

We need to find a way to make these stupid geese stay way south in the winter and up north in the summer where they belong! They have ruined Kellogg Lake in Carthage and several other private lakes as well. All you can see on top of the ice is goose poop. Then when the ice melts all of it goes to the bottom and silts in the lake. There are hundreds of them on the lake year round and there seems to be no way of getting rid of them. Well there is one way, but the peta people wouldn't approve and they always get their way. Maybe if we get rid of the peta people first we could have some regulated hunts and thin out the geese without being stopped by a bunch of wackos.

The Canada geese are the big problem in nearly every community. Many have become resident birds that are problems year round. The snows and blues are most generally despised by farmers, esp in the winter wheat fields where they tromp and noodle in the ground. At least they migrate back north and aren't a year round problem like the Canadas
