Wayne SW/MO Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 The one they call SM North now? I didn't know that. Sounds like you've lived a lot of different places. If you drive down Paseo now, you can see that it was a really great neighborhood at one point. Some of the houses are in good shape still. My dad grew up in a nice area over in KCK (10th and Quindaro) in the 30's that is really, really bad now too. Yes. It was just SM then. left there for the AF and never came back. I was born there, but never really lived there for any length of time. probably 12 years all together. It was the "big city" that my ancestors immigrated to from the NW counties and Cass co. I have lots of cousins in the area still. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
ness Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 That's a cool old school that they have kept up really nicely. You probably remember Metcalf when all it had was the French Market. John
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 No I was long gone. The urban world ended around 90th at that time. I had a friend who's parents lived on a farm about 102nd and Roe. I-35 was 50 hiway, but it was 4 lane, novel for the time and little used. Lenexa had about 2 blocks of paved road and an old town marshal that we harassed from time to time. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
