Bill Jr. Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I'm heading down to Bull on Thursday and wondered if anyone has a current WT? Seems like it has been warming and should warm up some more by the end of the week. Seems a litte tight lipped.. and I'm looking forward to it! May have a wiggle wart bite by then. We are bringing a couple kids so if we'll also be looking for whites in the backs of creeks. Catching a bunch of whites will definately get them hooked!
Ham Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Before the most recent snow, I heard a water temp of 53' at Redbank on Norfork which makes me think up the Theodosia arm might be very close to that. There is never as much talk about Bull as there is about TR. I haven't been on Bull in a good long while, but that will change soon. I haven't heard boo from anyone about Bull. I did hear there was a wart bite on Norfork. You don't mention where you will be staying, but I would look in the back of Jimmy Creek for White Bass. be Advised it has filled in with gravel in the way back. be very careful. Bill Jr. Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Thanks Ham, I'm actually going to be in the Mid lake area around Protem. I'll try Shoal Creek first. Have you ever tried up in Sugarloaf for whites? I never have but would be an option... hopefully I will not need to make.

Members Middleton369 Posted March 19, 2014 Members Posted March 19, 2014 I've grown up fishing bull shoals around the tucker and diamond city area and both sugarloaf creeks have phenomenal white bass fishing. I've also done great on bear creek. I know very little about the Missouri side but those areas I mentioned have great white bass fishing. However right now with all the rain it will be very muddy and I would guess the water temp would be 48-50 degrees at the warmest

I'm heading to Toledo Bend Saturday to fish Sunday thru Wednesday. Looking for a few big ole Florida Bass in the southern section of the lake. Bill Jr. Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 sorry on the late report but had some errands when i got back from the lake. Started late and got out about 11:30 on Friday. I wanted to fish the wart and went to a couple of spots that I've done well in the past. I guess you could call them bluff ends but they are subsurface at about 10-15 feet dropping off to 30. One ends on a small point and the other to a nice flat. I caught a couple of 15-16" nice spots on each. On the 2nd area after catching the 2 spots I hooked into a heavy fish which I fought for a good minute or 2 before seeing that it was a huge drum! 11lb 5oz. Biggest fish i've caught on a wart. Then headed to the very back of Shoal creek to target whites. quite a few boats for Bull in the back (maybe 8 or 9) but wasn't fast action. We picked up a few whites and a couple LM in 2-5fow but not a school, just one here and there. Great weather on Friday with water temp in the back 53.5 Saturday the warm South breeze of Friday turned into a cold wind out of the north. Targeting the whites again we probably caught 30 with about 15 keeps 14-17" but had to work for them. 2-5' mud flats with some brush was the ticket. We were using swimming minnows mostly but did catch a couple on the a-rig. Heard they had more sows in Elbow creek but didn't get up there. Just fun to get out on the water again. I'm going to have to get used to the new pool level as it really changed the back of these creeks where we were fishing. used to be dry land where we caught them. Great to be out on the water again and I'm going to go to New Orleans this weekend to fish reds and trout so hopefully catching that drum was good parctice
