I have often marveled at the incredible blessings bestowed on me and my loved ones, for no deserving reason. This mornings sunrise and the excitement to make todays first cast bring this to mind again and also makes me think about a way to share these wonderful blessings.

Are any of you interested in working towards having a fishing event for disabled kids, here at TR or Taneycomo, through the C.A.S.T for Kids charity program? Information about the charity and programs can be found here.

Phil has graciously given his blessing to allow promoting something like this on this forum and I have reached out to the gentleman who coordinates the event at Stockton. I have also reached out to the national organization for information. I hope to get their advice and benefit from their experience.

I would be more than pleased to make and donate whatever jigs and plastic baits I am able to make, for the benefit of such an event.

More than anything else, it would require the sacrifice of time and energy, from some of you for this to become a reality.

Your thoughts are most welcome.

Very nice of you skunkworks. May you continue to be blessed.

C.A.S.T. has done some event for Camp Barnabus in the past. Big Cedar Lodge has provided pontoon boats, marina facilities, and lunch at the confernce center. It's been a couple of years since I have helped with one. Seeing how happy the kids are fishing and knowing all the stuff they are up against....I had to wear my sunglasses through lunch so they wouldn't see me tearing up.

E.T.A.- If you come up with an event let me know. I would like to help and could probably get some help from a youth group I am invovled with to logistical stuff like putting together goodie bags, lunches, or something.

Logistical leadership will certainly be needed. I have exchanged emails with Jessica at the main office and hope to get some specific advice on how to proceed. Will advise further as I learn more. Thanks for your thoughts.

Good news. I heard from the regional director who sent some literature. I am told there have been CAST events at TR in the past.

"The event partners were the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bass Pro Shops, Big Cedar Lodge, Camp Barnabas, Table Rock Bassmasters, Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation and Western Taney County Fire and Developmental Center of the Ozarks"

I reached out to the contact at USACE to see where it currently stands. It costs $3K to put on the event.

On Monday I will post, under another thread, all the jigs and plastics that I have recently made. They will be available to everyone in the usual manner. When we figure out what the CAST event needs I will post that here and folks can donate, or not, as they see fit.

Another gorgeous day out there, Maybe we can get out later when our chores are completed. God bless y'all and keep our friend Mitch's family in our prayers.

DC do you have anything like a target date?

No, I am really just trying to gauge interest and gather intel.

I really am not very comfortable suggesting to folks where they should send money. It seems like a great cause though.

Depending on lead time, I would be interested in sending some Ned Rig goodies. Might be able to help out, if it fit with the things we already have scheduled for the summer, or perhaps 2015 if that ends up a better option.
