I know this is an uncommon way to reach a prospective employer, but the best jobs I ever had where from word of mouth , friends and aquaintances.I am a 43 year old Branson native , happily married for 20 years and 3 kids.16,14,10.I am not leaving the Branson area till I get my kids graduated from our school system here.It is a marvel and education is important to me. I know some of you are business owners or are friends of someone in town that is looking for a faithful employee with both managorial and sales expierience.I dont think timeshare sales would be in there though.I like working with the common man.I also would like a job that pays more then some of the low end wages ive seen lately.I have been offered many jobs but I havent accepted them because If you cant pay your bills with that wage why fight a loosin battle. Some may laugh at this post but all I need is one good lead>THANK YOU John Koch CELL 231-3280 Also Phil if this isnt acceptable in here please delete

Beware of a fishing guide offer also.. Tried Careerbuilder.com or Monster.com? I know how you feel. I am divorced and tied here in BFE job hell till she gets older and then I sail out of here to the land of milk and honey. I have had several good job offers out of state, but I can't leave my kid alone till she can fend for herself!

John,

I've certainly been in your shoes. My move to Springfield/Nixa was the result of two years of bad employment. I'm thankful every day for what God did for me moving me here.

"Networking" is a good way to increase your chances and that's what you are doing here. Good call!

It's according to your background and "expertise" but there are jobs out there and "continued employment" means a lot to many perspective employers. I worked at Dillard's for a while and my boss now made the comment that when I explained that I just wanted to keep working even at a much lower wage, it impressed him on my work ethic.

How about going back to school to learn a "new trade" or something similar?

Best of luck to you.

As an employer, (not in Branson, sorry), I can tell you that we moved away from Monster and to Careerbuilder.com. We are getting better applicants. So, many good employers are moving there as well.

Also, the best jobs seldom make it to the job market. They get filled without seeing the light of day. Find an employer or employers that you want to work for and go to them. Do your homework. Know as much about the company as you can. You have to get the name of the Head of HR and go after him/her. Get so they recognize your name. When an opening comes up, you need to be top of mind. Keep in mind that there is a fine line between being an interested job seeker and being a nuisance. Don't cross that line.

Lastly, don't give up. A good job is worth taking a few bad ones for.

Good luck
