Clay Goforth Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I thought I'd share this jig I made for white bass and see if I could get some feedback on the color pattern and whatever else. I know the forum has no shortage of opinions Any other white bass patterns you'd like to see or think would work? Let me know what you think. The Vitals: 1/16 oz aspirin head - white White blood quill marabou Peacock blue blood quill marabou Hologram eyes Plan on fishing it on 4 or 6lb test line. Clay Goforth Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Beautiful jig!! Thank you... Any changes you would make? Personally, I'd like to find some smaller eyes. Flysmallie Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I like the color combo, maybe add a little flash into the mix. Personally I think the size of the yes are just right. The bigger the better. Â Â

The bigger the better. Flashing...Brilliant. My issue with the eyes is that I am afraid they won't stay on this size of jig head very well. They are self-adhesive and I also glued them down with superglue, but the edges still stick up in a couple of places due to the contour of the jig head. I am afraid that one or two bumps on the rocks and they will get popped off. I like the bigger eyes too, but the surface area on the head is just a tad too small. I am going to test them out on Sunday and will make changes accordingly. But the fish probably don't care, just looks good in the box. Â Â
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Where's the chartreuse??? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
fishinwrench Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Here's a quick extra step that I saw done on a marabou jig. A ball of material (in this case-eztaz) that is slightly bigger than the jighead goes underneath the marabou and behind the tie-in point. It creates a pair of voids in the veil of marabou and causes a little water hydraulic action on a straight line retrieve.
Clay Goforth Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Where's the chartreuse??? I may try to tie up a chartreuse. I have fished the chartreuse little fishies and the white/blue back little fishies and always catch more on the white/blue combo. It creates a pair of voids in the veil of marabou and causes a little water hydraulic action on a straight line retrieve. That is a good idea. I should have a lot of that material left over after stuffing the girls easter baskets this year But seriously, I'll have to try that along with the flashing and the epoxy over the eyes. Thanks fellas! Clay Goforth=4px> Trophy Anglers Guild www.TrophyAnglersGuild.com "Happiness resides not in possessions and not in gold; the feeling of happiness dwells in the soul." - Democritus
bferg Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 If you use some liquid fusion (in the fly section @ Cabela's) it is a glue that works a lot like an epoxy...and you can layer it. Much easier to use than epoxy and gets you very close to the same kinda deal. Dries very clear and is water soluble. Love that stuff. Also, maybe some vapor blue crystal flash added to it would be awesome. I use a very similar white/vapor blue clouser minnow and some years it kills it. Would reccomend you add a chartruse version to your arsenal.
