We're planning on fishing the Long Creek area this Sunday for the first time in preparation for a family outing/get together the first weekend in April. What's the name of the marina off Hwy 86 south of the bridge. Is this the only ramp other than Cricket Creek? How about the ramp at Old Hwy 86.

Any thoughts or input on the Long Creek area is greatly appreciated. We will be crappie fishing. We usually fish Cape Fair and Stockton Lake. Thanks.

Did really well in white river last weekend. Can't go wrong with river and creek arms. I hear many people say they are no fish in Aunt's creek. Should probably stay away.:-)

The marina is Long Creek it can get crowded when the crappie fishing is hot. It's in a good crappie area when they move to the banks. There's also another marina just south of the state line in AR. It's Cricket Creek.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

That marina used to be Gage's and now it's Bass Pro Long Creek Marina. If you are looking for crappie I would launch there and work the south bank about 2/3rds the way back in Brushy first. I've had success there in years past and I always target laydowns that run from the bank down into the water and work a swimming minnow all over it from 5 feet of water down to 15-20ft. You can work your way towards Cricket and hit the little cuts and pockets on the way and pick up some crappie.

Will also add the cove right there to the left once you pass backbone bluff as you head upstream just past the MO/AR state line can also be a good spot for crappie. In early April sometimes you have to take a number and get in line to fish those types of locations all the way down to Yokum.

We did well the last time I was there on the north back. They were they were always hanging around some wood.

Never did any good on the west side south of the Marina?

A couple of times we have had to go to Cricket or 86 to get in because there was no place left to park a rig at Long Creek.

Thanks everyone for the info. Plan to drive down tomorrow and get an idea of which ramp would be the best to put in at. Looking forward to fishing Long Creek for the first time Sunday!

Long Creek will be best, but you should find an alternate. I'm not sure whether Cricket or 86 is closer pavement wise or which is closer by water, but I don't think there is enough distance difference to worry about in that regard.
