Members Bobby P. Posted March 29, 2014 Members Posted March 29, 2014 Who makes the best umbrella rig for the money? Also what is the best grub/trailer and color to use on the rig? Is a white fluke jr. the best thing to use?
Bill Babler Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Good gosh, that will get you 200 different replies. In other words no one knows for every situation. You have to experiment. When most people got started they used the flukes, but now I think most have gone away from them. For me they pull to hard and there are more streamline baits with just as much vibration. Good Luck on your question. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
moguy1973 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Search on ebay for umbrella rigs. The name brand ones aren't anything special over what they are selling on ebay for $2-3 each... Here's a lot of 6 for less than $10 for all of them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-6-Alabama-Style-Umbrella-Fishing-Rigs-Multiple-Colors-TroyMan-Lures-U-S-/321360172806?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ad28f1706 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
dtrs5kprs Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 It would be hard to find a rig that is being more customized to specific conditions...blades, extra bodies, length, lead vs. no lead. With a little luck they will stop eating it soon so we can get on to dragging little green worms.
Members derekburleson Posted March 29, 2014 Members Posted March 29, 2014 I like the YUM Flashmob Jr. Doesn't feel like a ton of bricks and I've caught fish on it using Keitechs, the swimming Zoom flukes and today on some cheap Berkley swimbaits I got on sale at Academy. That's targeting bass. You could probably get by with grubs this time of year going after white bass. But I'm far from an expert. Caught 3 fish in 4 hours today so take my advice with a grain of salt!

Caught 3 fish in 4 hours today so take my advice with a grain of salt! I listened. Been a lot of days that I didn't catch 3 all day, let alone 4 hrs. That is just early Spring. These boys winning the derby's with those big bags are not for the most part catching a boat load either. Just the right 5. Plus 2 on the Jr. The Keitechs are a big presentation. and the Berkley baits or the Storm baits if they are hooked baits have just to good of a hook in them. for me. You snag one of those baby's up and you are going to loose your Flashy Mob. Never apologize for catching fish on Table Rock Lake, and I'll bet everyone here will second that. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Every fish is a good fish at times. Think the overall size and "mass of the mob" are the strangest things about the a-rig. Perhaps it has something to do with wind, temp, light, and the effects those have on the way bait bunches up.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Never apologize for catching fish on Table Rock Lake, and I'll bet everyone here will second that. I hear that! The rig seems to be very effective for whites in the right water. I had one last year, but never got it wet. I think for me it looks to be more effective than fun, but that's just an observation. I might get mine wet this year. I got mine from E-bay and it came from Linn Creek, I think if I remember right. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
