Lifes2Short Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Yes I went today, yes I had the lake to myself, yes I got a little wet, and yes it was a great day to wet a line! Out of Roark about 7, ran up to the timber and caught 27, best 5 would have gone 12 or 13. Nothing big, but a bunch of nice fat healthy bass. Best news is that the blade bite is ON!! A few others were caught on Brush Hogs, Warts, & jerkbaits. Water at launch was 48, by the end of the day it was 54 in the timber. South winds 15 to 25, cloudy all morning, downpour around 11, and then sunny skies after 2. First time I have been on that lake and not seen anybody, no boats, no trailers, not anybody but me and a ton of turkeys. Tight Lines!
denjac Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Glad you got out and caught em. Going to give the crappie a try sat and do some bass fishing too. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. waterpossum Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Good report as always. The blade bite is a load of fun. Having the lake to yourself is about as good as it gets. The bass population is about as healthy as I can remember. Back in the 80's when I was fishing in a bass club there was some pretty pitiful fish in the lake, but along the way something changed, I guess the forage base must have really improved.
Lifes2Short Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 There was also another first on the lake yesterday, hail on the deck. Yikes! Just happy the bilge pump worked! Good luck on the crappie denjac, if you are in the Sons Creek look for us in the black champion. I'm headed up there tomorrow, hope the water didn't cool off too much.

And congrads on the 7.2 Also bumped into waterpossum. The crappie hunt wasnt to good so we switched to bass around 10 am. Found em on the flatter stuff, but not pea gravel. Boat in 6 to 7 ft most of the day. They whacked the blade all day long ! I know, high skys, but did have a slight breeze, although we caught them the same on flat water. Ended up with around 30 , we had a couple in the 3 pound range as our big fish but half of what we caught were keeps. Bigger whites were whacking our blades too and if we had thrown some smaller stuff I believe we would have tore the whites up. We were in the sons creek arm. I threw the wart in the same stuff and didnt get bit, go figure. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo.
