Based on current conditions can anyone recommend a Friday through Sunday float trip for this weekend. Was headed to the Buffalo, but levels are on the rise. Not sure it will be fishable by Friday. Thanks.

"Current conditions" . . . . and "this coming weekend conditions" are 2 very different things. Currently, a lot of the smaller rivers and creeks are pretty high, but by the weekend, I think you could have your choice of where to go as long as you go for the upper sections, and as long as no more heavy rain falls.

Upper Jacks Fork would be my first choice, but Black, mid-to-upper Current, Bryant Creek, upper Osage Fork . . . .

It's hit and miss as far as run off goes. JF looks to have crested, Meramec and Niangua didn't get much, upper Ganade isn't showing a rise but it's probibly delayed. If you stay flexible and keep an eye on the weather you might be able to find good conditions.

I just got back from the Niangua and I can tell you the river is in great shape so you shouldn't have any issues there should you choose that trip.

Looking at the Upper Jacks Fork gauge, it should be perfect by this weekend as well.

This is the time of year is when understanding the USGS river gage graphs really pay off. Right now the leafout has not happened and the soil is saturated, conditions can change fast, be careful.

Yep, just pay attention to the graphs on the USGS river gages. Especially look at the "flow in cubic feet per second" graph, and if the flow is steady or dropping and is fairly close to the little triangles that show the median flow for each day, you should be good to go on that stream in that general area. Of course, not all streams are covered, but there are plenty of streams that are.

Buffalo or Kings should both be perfect by this weekend, absent any more significant rain.
