Walleyedmike Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 That boat won't last long at that price. Nice rig J-Doc. Welcome to the Ranger family! WM
J-Doc Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 That boat won't last long at that price. Nice rig J-Doc. Welcome to the Ranger family! WM No Ranger ordered just yet Mike. Lol. Still evaluating manufactures. Ranger is the leader currently. Just wished it rode better and the controls were mounted higher. Darn thing is where your leg is at full throttle. Hate that. jpb2187 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Hey J-Doc, Whats the total weight of the boat, outboard, and trailer?
J-Doc Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 I do not have an actual recorded weight. The badge on the boat does not provide the total weight (at least I don't think it does). According to iboats.com, the dry weight (hull only, no motor) is 800lbs. http://boatspecs.iboats.com/Cane_Cutter__1502__1979/bp/66b108956 Add another 350 for motor, another 200-300 for gear, 200 for yourself, and trailer being probably 600ish?? Guessing close to 1,600lbs in that ballpark. Definitely under 2,000lbs although I've never weighed it at a weigh station or the landfill. (lol.....landfill scale) My truck is a 2012 Tacoma 4x4 with the 4.0 V6. I can pull it pretty easy and barely noticeable around town and to the lake. Climbing hills you notice it's back there but truck takes it and pulls away. I've passed people many times on the 3-lane going up to Prairie Creek. If they are pulling and going 30mph........brother you're getting passed by the Cutter no question! I will say this. On the water, she rides kind a heavy. Unless you're on 2-3ft chop, she's as smooth as melted butter. Get it on some good chop and she'll be like any other glass boat of that length. Probably better due to weight. SOLID boat! I've had it in as rough a water as you'd ever want to be in on Beaver and never felt threatened. Not once....... Hope that helps. Need marine repair? J-Doc Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 I've had me, bass gear for two people, my buddy at about 260, me at 220, 2 full tanks of fuel, and ridden in rough water out by Van Winkle Hollow in the middle of summer with wake boats everywhere. It was not a smooth ride but it took it. THe motor is strong too. I only lost 1-2mph with all of the extra gear and passenger. She's currently running 39-40 (gps). That's as strong as she's ever run. Rare occasions with a tail wind and perfect chop, I've hit up to 45. :-) She was singing "I believe I can fly" at the time. lol Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. J-Doc Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 If yuo are referring to any time we took the burrito out, I was 325-350lbs. Well, I was giving you credit. You're certainly no where near that now. Remember, I have a spare tire if you need one. LOL OK, so more to my point above. I lost 1-2mph with my buddy in the boat with me. That was before the deck extension however. Probably 2-3 now with the added bow weight. Total weight of extension is only 40lbs. Need marine repair? jolicious Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I lovingly refer to Jason's boat as the "Burrito". It just kinda came to me when I first saw it. I realize I am a nobody on a message board, but I'll still go on record as saying it's a really good boat that has been pampered
J-Doc Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 You're a somebody in my book. And thank you. She really has been treated well. Need marine repair?
