Pepe Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 We had our 33rd annual family & friends fishing derby on TR this past weekend and while the fishing was very good, I am glad it is over. Fishing and competition just doesn't work well for me. I decided during the event that this would be my last one. We were catching 14.5 inch Spots, having a great time and realized we needed to leave and find bigger fish. That just bothered me. We did end up with the winners plaque by virtue of a couple 5 lb bass that put over the top. We fished between the SK Bridge and Baxter and mostly drug centipedes. The biggest, a 5.5lb LM was caught on a Wiggle-Wart, but we had a blast working wobble-head jigs and GP with purple & copper plastic. Almost all fish were in 6 to 10 ft of water. I also tried a product called bait-buttons and it really works as advertised. http://www.baitbuttons.com/
dtrs5kprs Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Good for you, on all counts. Best thing I ever did was give up tmts. Not less work, but much more fun.
fishingaddiction Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Congrats on the win Danger. Sounds like the event was mostly fun with some good fish caught. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
techo Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 dragging Carolina rigged baits off the back always seems to work. Funny how the Mrs. out fishes me doing that while I'm working hard on casting off the front. congrats on the win! Tim Carpenter
rps Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I also tried a product called bait-buttons and it really works as advertised. http://www.baitbuttons.com/ I use them often rigging live crawlers Texas rig style on walleye harness'.
