dtrs5kprs Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Had the pleasure of sharing a boat today with Don Baldridge. Many of you know Don from his "Winkiedoodles" youtube channel, which features a lot of Table Rock action. We fished in the Kimberling area, primarily using the Midwest Finesse Rig (Ned Rig). Early on we caught a good number of keepers, but shorts and bites were far between. As the water warmed we started picking up more of the "quality" shorts, those 14 1/2" sort of spots. Today also saw more brown fish. Fish were on the usual flatter gravel and mixed rock places close to deep water. Caught them shallow, but also started finding some pullng up a bit deeper...15'-25'. Best was an 18 1/2" brownie caught by Don. All but a few were on the little rig, 1/16 and more so the 1/8oz, PBJ and greens. The others were on a 1/4oz shakey head with the full zinkerz in green pumpkin. Had 10-11 keepers between us, around 30-35 fish total. Keepers were a mix of all 3, with some nice fat mama K's. An excellent day spent in good company. Keep an eye out for some video from Don covering some of his recent finesse efforts. He has had a couple of good days mistreating his boaters lately.
BATCAB27 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Did he bust out a WOOO-WEEEEE!! when he caught that smallie? I miss Don's Crap-squatch videos on Spfld lake. Tell him to make some more
OldMillRoad Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Well, the fish are horizontal! Great report, looks like a relaxing day. I'll be down Monday, hope they keep moving on up.

It was just a great day of purely fun fishing. More folks should do it more often, spending time actually enjoying the fish they catch.
fishingaddiction Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Weather conditions were in your favor today. Good days fishing and a great report and nice to hear the small jaws are wanting to play. Have you had any issues with the green snot? Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Champ188 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I've always heard good things about Don. You guys obviously had a great time relaxing and pulling on some of God's finest creatures. Glad you got to catch a bunch and they bit the way you like them to.

Along the way leading up to today it turned out we know a lot of the same people because of his military service. Ft Leavenworth guys I used to fish with.

Have you had any issues with the green snot? I am not fighting the green goop. Not sure if that is due to the little rig's tendency to come through it, or just the areas. It does not bother me much, and fish seem to stay around it and stay active. Think people get overly concerned about it.
