Sac River Jim Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Eeeeeek!!!!! I tied into a 5.87 drum on 4lb floro. took me a minute or two but i got him boated. on the next cast i had the biggest birds nest youve even seen, i cut it out re-rigged casted again and bam!!!!! another birds nest. well if i would have inspected the reel the first time id seen that the bail arm cracked. lmbo!!!! Crappie were slow with only short fish till after the second little thunder shower came thru then the sun came out and warmed things up a little. the only keeper i had came after 1:00 and i had to be off the water by 1:45 i'm thinking it might have started to pick up in late afternoon early evening. minnow 5ft under a slip bobber tight to wood in 8 to 12' of water and purple or chart/wht grubs worked best for us but that isnt saying much.

MOPanfisher Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Pomme has plenty of drum, I catch at least one nearly every time I go. We got our butts kicked Friday and Saturday. Friday evening was absolutely beautiful, except for the not being able to catch crappie, caught 2 shorts and one keeper. Went to Truman on Saturday and was even worse, fished in the rain for a while, then later the sun came out, finally just before dark I caught two crappie, one short and one keeper. Was a terrible weekend for fishing for me.
