Members flyguy_stl Posted April 30, 2014 Author Members Posted April 30, 2014 Yeah, I know the trout are all down river from Bennett. We would be targeting smallies, too. So up river put in is fine and froggy water will not necessarily be passed over.
Members flyguy_stl Posted May 1, 2014 Author Members Posted May 1, 2014 I checked with NRO and they said the fee for takeout at their access is $2/boat. Thanks for the advice, everyone. Should be a great weekend.
Gavin Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Fun trip, but that stream could be a lot better. We took our kids out for an hour or so on Friday and they caught a mess of smallmouth & rock bass, probably the highlight of the trip. Floated Riverfront to Barclay with Ryan & Mike on Saturday...Fishing was pretty slow...Lots of people, cattle pasture, cabins, and eroded mud banks...Did manage the tri-fecta (smallie, brown, rainbow). The bead head rubber leg fox squirrel was best, followed by the Ned, and Kastmaster.

I know for sure they can't survive below the Bridge Piers....Luckily those pesky creatures don't exist in the Little Niangua.
Gavin Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 No surprise about catching smallies on mediocre trout water. Goggle eye fishing was better than the trout or smallmouth...no plans to float it again any time soon, so you can have them.
