Alex Heitman Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Started late today about 10 since it was cold this morning. The cold didn't seem to hurt the bite. It is really hard to fish locations you cant to right now with this wind. Caught them shallow again on senkos 4-8ft with some K's out a little deeper. Even caught a few meanmouths that were really beautiful color. Boated exactly 40 bass today with the majority being smallmouth. Nothing real big but a lot of solid 3 lbers. Caught a bonus rouge black in the very back of a pocket that was pushing 5. I also caught some sight fishing which is so fun in clear water. I really don't do a lot of it but couldn't resist. The fish seem to tik the senko hard and run with it a lot so you have to watch your line and feel the slightest pressure because they already have eaten it good. I could have boated a lot more fish but messed around and tried to get some other things working. I also looked for whites and only managed 3. I have no idea about whites this year, it has been a struggle for me to put some meat in the freezer.
Champ188 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Glad to hear they can still be caught. I'll be there Friday and probably back Sunday.
Nitro 750 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Thanks for the report, plan on fishing in that area this weekend.
magicwormman Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Good report Alex!! Glad you're still catching them during this cold front. I also have struggled finding those whites. In a normal year I can usually find them on the main lake, but not this year.
Quillback Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Good deal Alex, that has to be fun catching those smallies like that!
