Ahhh, gentlemen, may I offer an alternative?

Look at my avatar. That is a Norman Top Dollar. You can fish it as a popper or you can walk it. It flat catches fish. I have had several 50+ fish days using it and my best was a 23.5 inch post spawn female my Cabelas spring scale said was between 8 and 8.25 pounds. AND they are cheap (unless you get carried away like I did and have them repainted and install death trap hooks on them.)

Yes, those are in the boat. Have you thrown the "potato chip" on braid yet? Talk about sweet.

Still owe you for letting that one out of the bag. I could however, save you some money on repaints with a can of white spray paint. Does not need to look like much.

I need to pick up some of those top dollars. None available locally for me though. Any specific color combos you prefer RPS?

Really the only thing that makes the Sammy different from the other lures mentioned is the rattle system. It's a different sound than the Spooks and Sexy Dawgs, although the Sexy Dawg is actually not far different. I proved to my own satisfaction that sometimes the bass like that swishy rattle of the Sammy better, but I too have gotten to where I fish the Sexy Dawg about as much, and I'm actually using homemade wooden walkers without rattles more and more.

Norman Lures has them. Here is a link:

I would buy the Nutter, Chrome or Shadow Shad. I had Tim Hughes paint a dozen for me several years ago. The three colors that have produced the best from that are a blue scale, a green scale, and a petroleum slick scale.

Even after I paid for the painting, shipping, the death trap hooks, and the feathers I tied to the rear treble, they cost under $20 each

Keep on fishing it! They are unique in the sense that they are poppers that walk. poppers that walk have little forward motion and stay in one place and annoy a fish. Especially within weeks of the spawn. It's no surprise you were able to get that big post spawn female. The popper walkers become less effective the closer you get to the fall. Then the Sammy types and buzzbaits will take over.

BTW- if you like the Zara puppy, most WalMarts have them in bargain boxes right now for $1.50. I grabbed four more bone white on monday.
