from what I understand three poles are all you can use.In a Alabama rig three hooks are all that is allowed and assume that goes back to the three poles in use. my question is are you allowed to use three poles if you have two jigs on each pole. which totals six hooks.This sounds like a stupid question to me since im from texas where ,you can use as many poles as you want in a spider rig but mo. has some strick if not strange rules.

If you use more than 3, you have to label them with your name and address or your conservation number. Max of 33 hooks total. You're correct about the 3 hooks on A-rig.

I'm not sure I understand the 2 jigs comment. I assume you're talking about using 3 poles at once, but if not there is no limit on how many you have on standby.

The A rig is a lure and not part of the "pole" regulation.

I like to see people seeking clarification on conservation rules, so great question. When reading responses, both above posts are correct. However, I always recommend people read for themselves versus just taking someones word for it as rules can change from year to year and people often rely on memory. Number of Poles and Hooks

If you use more than 3 poles (or 2 poles on the Mississippi River) at any one time, the additional poles must be labeled with your full name and address. Regardless of the method or number of poles, you may not use more than a total of 33 hooks at any one time; except on the Mississippi River the maximum is 50 hooks at one time. If fishing on the Mississippi River and on other Missouri waters at the same time, no more than 50 hooks may be used and not more than 33 on waters other than the Mississippi. Hooks on trotlines must be staged at least 2 feet apart. Hooks on any type of line, as well as the line itself, must be attended every 24 hours or removed.

I am not a spider rigger, but if you have five or six poles sitting in rod holders on the front of your boat while strolling along, why in the heck do you really need them labeled with your name? That is a stupid reg in my opinion.

It's what the regs say, not what we think makes sense or what someone who wrote the regs was thinking about at the time. If you're fishing with more than three rods, you'll be safe with labeling them. If you don't and you run across the wrong agent then you might find out what some people can be like.
