Methinks I need to take Brett vertical fishing for gog's. They will suspend in deep wood along with the spots in June. The boy had to take a break from smallmouth to fish for gogs last summer. Was the first time he'd caught fish he could see on a graph below the boat.

We have a place where they do it pretty consistently, some trees in the gut of a spawn cove.

Methinks you need to invite me and Brett on that fishing excursion, that sounds like fun! Are you talking sending a drop shot down to the gog's, or something different?

Drop shot would for sure work. We just dropped "old reliable" (name not mentioned to prevent undue angst) down to them like you would grub fish in the winter. They get in the tops at about 15'-20' over 30-35', with some deep docks close by. Would guess they do it other places, once they are done with the pea gravel.

There are a lot more of them in the lake than you would think. I probably catch close to a hundred in an average year, just working brown fish places. I have a soft spot for them, and swim them all after they make the boat. Have to admire a 10" fish that will attack a 3/4oz FB jig.

I hear you on keeping them. They are such a cool fish, I just couldn't do it.
