Members jlinmo226068 Posted June 15, 2014 Author Members Posted June 15, 2014 I am going on vacation in a couple weeks in Branson so I was thinking of dropping it off at The Prop Dr. while I am there has anyone had any experiences with him ? Good or Bad ? He does seem to be the cheapest around but I know that dosent always mean the best . Thanks for all your help
GNSfishing Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 If I was going to have a prop repaired I would take it to Dyna Prop on Hwy 76. Cheap is not necessary the best way to go. Whom ever you take it to be sure to inquire if they use pitch blocks to set the pitch of your prop to factory specs. Some of the repair shops just use their eyeballs to set the pitch. I had a 25 pitch Tempest Plus repaired and my 24 pitch Tempest out performed the 25 by 8 to 9 mph at the same RPMS. So ask a few questions before selecting a repair shop.....
Members jlinmo226068 Posted June 16, 2014 Author Members Posted June 16, 2014 I may drop it by Dyna Prop on the way there and pick it up on the way home it seems there is a lot of good things that has been said about them
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I would take it john's or dyna prop that way you don't have to worry if it's done correctly
Sore Thumbs Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Not trying to poop on repaired props, but it would be wise to buy a backup. This comes from a hard lesson I learned this winter. 2 day tourney and we were in 10th place after day one. My repaired prop threw an ear early the second day. Needless to say we didn't make it to our spot cuz I didn't have a spare prop.
GNSfishing Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 The spare can be an alummium prop which is cheap and it will get you out of a tight spot while you obtain a replacement.
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 BPS parts in spfld getting rid of stock of SS props, 40% off retail
Bill Babler Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I have used Dyna in the past, but everytime I pay my bill I just feel like I have been absolutely hammered. Their reviews on Google are not good, mostly the same complaint with what they usually say when you fuss is "Well that is cheaper than buying a new one." I believe and please correct me if I'm wrong $165.00 is their minimum charge if they just clean and polish without adding any material. We are talking at 25's to 27's here in 3 or 4 blade. I have had 5 done there and that is what it has been on all 5. So either they saw me coming or that is the minimum for scratch removal and polishing. Prop Dr. where they were at Kimberling City was $90 for the same fix. Never heard a single fuss about John's Hot Props, on either price or quality of workmanship. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I have said use dyna prop, because that is who we have repair our props, maybe all i'm seeing is my discounted price, but I've never seen an invoice from them for more than $80. they might be a little higher but you don't have to question workmanship.
