REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 What a waste Of big fish, just one guys opinion. Don't have anything against keeping some, just wish folks would only keep the 15 inchers and leave the big kids in the pool. Not intended to be an ugly/hateful post, just my thoughts. x2
Bird Watcher Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I guess I don't see how they were "wasted" if he took them home and fried them for his Gma. They also don't look like "big fish". If you look at left hand in the mouth of the fish, I'm think they are like 2-3# keepers. I can't stand the mentality of Bass fisherman sometimes. elitist-uptight-judgemental all comes to mind. To the OP, nice catch. beautiful fish. I can't wait to catch some 5#ers on live shad. Since they fight so poorly and reproduce very successfully, those are the ones I usually send home with boat guests for their fish fry. They taste just like a big crappie. I like to think that every time my knife touches a 20" LM, an angel loses it's wings or a unicorn dies.
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 my question is why keep bass like that when, you could take home something tasty like crappie or walleye?
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 i'm a bass fisherman too, but I don't keep fish like that.
Dirtracer35 Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 I'm a power fisherman. I find zero interest into down rigging and trolling across numerous spots. I don't tie up to a tree and spend countless hours jigging up and down waiting for a thin lipped crappie to bite. That's just no fun. If it helps you sleep at night. I did release two 14" crappie. And I do catch and release my big bucks every year. I just jump down, ride my 8 seconds and roll off.
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I just jump down, ride my 8 seconds and roll off. Are we still talking about fishing here?
Dirtracer35 Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Just wondering what else y'all would like to complain about. They're both food.
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I just think if you are going to keep fish to eat, they should be worth eating before you keep them.
Dirtracer35 Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 They were. They were very good. Cleaning a few bass compared to a few limits of crappie to feed 6 people. It's practically worthless. Like perch. Bass and crappie are both excellent eating.
