Members Mike Ray Posted May 16, 2014 Members Posted May 16, 2014 fished outta mill creek for a bit this morning. caught a few on wobble head then saw what I thought were whites swirlin the water so threw a white rooster tail at them and hooked up about a 3 lb trout!! had heard they were in t.r. but first I ever caught. old boy really hammered it and came outta right field so to speak{ wasn't in the swirl}is this common or un-common? b.t.w. beautiful healthy fish is still swimmin.
kjackson Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Common enough in my experience as long as the water is cool enough.
Members Mike Ray Posted May 16, 2014 Author Members Posted May 16, 2014 my first in 13 years fishing the Rock.
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 You here of one every once in awhile in the winter or spring. Pretty rare though, nice catch. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Quillback Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I've heard of people catching them in the Rock but never have done so myself.
Quillback Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Need to correct that, I have caught them, but in the Beaver tailwater, never out in the main lake.
kjackson Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Really? Maybe it's because I fish in the upper end...
Pepe Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 That is a big trout. Oddly enough I saw some swirling top water action last weekend fishing off San Souci point in the White River and it turned out to be a good sized trout. It wasn't 3 pounds and I did not land it. It chased my swimbait and bit the tail off but we got a real good look at it.
Sac River Jim Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 one now and then gets caught around the mouth of roaring river. im surprised you caught one that far down
