Feathers and Fins Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Simple report, You want Crappie go to Rocky Branch. There might be a walleye or two around as well. Water temp 64.3 at launch 68.7 at pull-out NE Wind around 16 to 20 mph Cloudy Bait Flicker shad for a few hours in the morning accounting for 2 legal walleye 6 to 12 fow Rest of the day it was all about Bobby Garland baby shad and catching crappie. Did have a very unruly striper decide to blast the spider rig but 4lb test against freight train doesn't work. Only 3 crappie on the rig all the rest were caught by making long cat and letting it hit the bottom then very very slowly reeling it in maintaining contact with the bottom. Oh almost forgot the annoying white bass are there also in 20fow https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members PDR Posted May 18, 2014 Members Posted May 18, 2014 Looks like some of those crapps were shallow, any come off notches/back of coves/brush? Going tomorrow AM around cliftys, and was curious as to how everyone is acting up there.
Feathers and Fins Posted May 18, 2014 Author Posted May 18, 2014 They were deep, 12 to 20 fow with marauding schools in 7fow over open water. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
kjackson Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Monday I'm heading out, but I was thinking the 12 bridge. May have to rethink that. I'd almost rather catch decent whites than crappies, but I could be forced to adapt. Thanks for the report!
bferg Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 I think I saw you this AM as we were headed back to the fireman's ramp at about 7:30. Saw some dude with a spider rig on the front motoring slowly locked into his graph.... We were in ford creek for a quick morning striper hunt. We ended up freezing to death in the wind for about an hour and a half with 1 small striper (a-rig) and a nice eye (Flickr shad) to show for it. It was chilly for mid May!
Lance34 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Nice mess of fish. Thanks for the update. I went Friday and fished deep brush and timber. Caught a few crappie but very far between. I did land my first ever walleye though but, it was only 16". Going again tomorrow, starting out deep and go from there.

There are plenty of whites around there as well I just didn't want to keep dealing with them especially after locating the crappie. I locked on to them like a Pointer on a Pheasant. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
hoglaw Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Ive been doing really well on the Arkansas river. Or at least was two weeks ago. May try again saturday. Hoping to still find some shallow in the spawning grounds. That may be a done deal by now.
