jay bird Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Finally get a day off this Tuesday and me and a buddy are heading down for our annual fly fishing striper trip. Still looking to hook up on that 15# plus striper on a fly rod have had some smaller ones and some close calls with some big ones but nothing in the boat yet. Will either be fishing out of the dam or lost bride south, but could run o almost any where. Thanks Jason
Feathers and Fins Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Launch out of PC would be best and start looking there and work your way down to Rocky Branch. That is the best bet I have. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
bfishn Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 With Tuesdays forecast for clear skies, it'll pay to be on the spot at the first hint of daylight or even before if possible. The moon will be nearly straight up at 4AM, so getting in place will be easy. As always, find the shad. F&F has up-to-date knowledge that I don't, but days gone by would have found me roaming the Moulder area at daylight in mid-May. I can't dance like I used to.
bferg Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Last 3 weeks it has been awesome near Rocky Branch- at least when there is a south or west wind (my favorite spot does not set up well for an east or north wind). Yesterday there wasn't much of a top water bite but last week it was crazy from 5:45 to 7:30. Once the sun got up it ended. But yes- the top water bite has been on for 3 weeks. Last Saturday water temp was 67 when I put in. Yesterday it was 65. Little too much wind yesterday for my liking. Did get one on a A rig but didn't see much top water action.

The only way to have seen top water action yesterday would have been the action on the surface created by the night befores dinner being yaked up. This would be the perfect time of year to be pulling a AC Plug behind the boat or two and have the fly rod ready for side of boat action. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jay bird Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 I have done well over by quarry cove that small island and the mouth of Rambo in past may start there. Is there a curtesy dock at ventrist ???
1969Larson Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Try fly fishing for them at night in the tailwaters... Here is some underwater video of what I saw there this afternoon... These guys knew I was there and wouldn't bite anything. There were two schools of roughly 30 stripers swimming together with one or two absolute HOGS swimming alone. I couldn’t get video of the big ones since they were hard to spot, but I would bet they could challenge the state record. http://youtu.be/OjpPz_YWZhM
