5bites
Normally I like to take the family for a few hours of cat fishing at Stockton on memorial weekend. We just fish the rip rap around the bridges. I assume that's not gonna happen this year, this weekend anyway? I like cat fishing how I like crappie fishing. Easy. Otherwise I'll chase bass. 9LB
Not really a catfisherman but I have caught some pretty fat one's trolling so far this Spring. Many more then I usually see. I have seen guys fishing them at the Roark East boatramp the last 2 weeks.
Dirtracer35
The Aldrich boat ramp has always been good to me. Especially with that flat and channel swing coming off the bluff and going under the bridge. I'd say that'd be pretty hot about now.

5bites
Great guys. Thanks for the info! Mr. Jim does this mean they might be going around Roark too or do they start in the rivers and fire further up lake as time goes on?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 24, 2014 Root Admin Share Posted May 24, 2014 We caught a few- channel and flathead- at the dam. There's a rock pile just in front of the gates about 100 feet from the buoy line that jumps up to about 26 feet. We anchored over it and dropped night crawlers and cut perch down and caught a few along with a walleye or two. Did the same on the sides too. If you follow the sides of the river channel, you'll find the top of the ledge about 20 feet deep. That's where we'd anchor. Caught some BIG blue gill there too. 5bites
Very cool. I'd like to be headed there now but since it's raining (thank goodness) and I'm the only one awake I'll have to hang loose and see what my little crew wants to do. I'd think this morning would be a fun one on the water.
wuteversbitin424
Bites ruark is where i usually do my cats on the rocks and it usually runs a week or two later but generally start this weekend and go through june. i would think aldrich would be along the same time frame as cc. After the spawn we fish the flats at aldrich and drift shiners and catch them all the way through sept if it stays warm. Going to ruark this afternoon and heading up the river looking for crappie and walleye. might throw out a couple jugs at the bridge for the heck of it. good luck kevin
5bites
Catfish-1 Bittick family-0 No luck on the cats around ruark so we started bass fishing. We had a good afternoon/evening. My youngest caught his first jig fish and my oldest caught a keeper jig fish as well. I caught quite a few bass and around 5-6 keepers. All of our bass fishing was in one cove on the east side about half way to mile long bridge. Shaky head, wobble head, and a buzzbait did my catching. Oh yea I sight fished a 5-7lb carp. That was hilarious. I saw him by a log and pitched the shaky head by him. He turned and chomped down on it and it was on. It was the first time the boys have seen one close up.
