Members Levi Michael McQueary Posted May 23, 2014 Members Posted May 23, 2014 Floated the Huzzah from harpers slab to huzzah valley. The fishing was good. Caught tons of perch and lots of smallies. Water is crystal clear. Saw plenty of beds, but nobody was home. Caught a 16in, 12in, and 13in smallies and lots around 10in. Also a 13in spot. Only caught 2 goggle eye. I have no idea where they have gone to. Remember the bass season on the rivers opens on Saturday. Ran into people on the river and at the rental who had no idea there is a bass season. Very disturbing.
405z06 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Nice report! I haven't made to the Huzzah yet this year, but I am sure that I will soon. I often times forget there is a bass season, too. Mainly because I never, ever keep any. I don't even own a stringer.
Members Levi Michael McQueary Posted May 23, 2014 Author Members Posted May 23, 2014 I just wonder if those people really don't know or if they don't care to know the regulations. If they don't know there is a season do they know about length limits on bass and goggs. Or how about creel limits. These are the people that we need to watch out for. They do more damage to the wildlife than a catch and keeper that follows the regs.

Hmmm now you are seeing first hand Levi what I bitch about on here all of the time.....you are correct ignorance kills a ton of wildlife in Missouri every year...so does poaching, they are one in the same. Sweet report also.....keep them coming and throw those bass back if they healthy and un harmed.
mjk86 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 How do you clean those gils? Did you fillet them up, or just scale/gut?
Members Levi Michael McQueary Posted May 23, 2014 Author Members Posted May 23, 2014 Fillet. I only loose the meat on the rib cage. Or just gut, cut the head and dorsal and anal fins off, skin them and fry them up. It's easy to take a fork and remove the rib bones.
