Wayne SW/MO Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Bass Pro's Metropolitan reel service will likely have it. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
WHARFRAT Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Ambassadeur TC36 (T3600 C) Tournament 75th anniversary Edition? Nice Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @lozcrappie Â
Kelroy Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Thanks! ;-) I love Ambassadeurs, especially the old red 5000's. My earliest memories of fishing are with my dad, and his big red 5000 mounted on a white fiberglass rod (with red wrapping on the guides, no less. What a beautiful setup) We're talking early 70's here, so it was old-school hula poppers, jitterbugs, crazy crawlers, hellbenders, lucky 13's, spooks, runts, lazy ikes, silver minnow spoon (with requisite uncle josh porkrind!) and an occasional zorro spinnerbait. As soon as he would hook one, he would hand that rod over to me while he got the net, and all was right with the world. Fish on....
Old plug Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 I do not fish top waters much but was fishing a old spook wooded spook yeasterday morning. Still like it. I think you can get broader cadence range with it. That is exactly where this spook comes from. Early to mid. 70s. I bought this reel brand New. Down at Pro bass in Springfield. Garcia reel are a reel good value. .
fishinwrench Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I love the old round reels, but that's one I have never seen before. Interesting!
Old plug Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 Its is the smallest Garcia I have ever seen. I wore out the old handle and put a new one on there. only problem I ever had with it.
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I've still got a couple of 5000's and a couple of 6500's. I think I still have a silver 5500 also. One of my 5000's is a B which has a full spool capacity and a clicker. I got all my 5000's in the 60's, but never had a "C' for some reason. It was common back then to put ball bearings in them, but I don't think that really made them a "C" when it came to casting. For people lime me that had grown up with Langley's, Bronson's, Pflueger's and Shakespeare reels the anti reverse and drag was a real learning curve. Some things are hard to let go of and I still have 2 Shakespeare Presidents, white blade with the Howald wrap. Ones a fly rod and the other is a spin cast rod. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Kelroy Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I must admit this was a new one on me too. It looks to be a very handy size, and the one-piece machined aluminum frame speaks of robust, precision construction. The only modern A/G reel comparable seems to be the new Morrum, which approaches $300 retail.
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I noticed it only has 2 side plate screws. That might give a hint to what it is. I'm pretty certain all my round reels have 3. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
