Wayne SW/MO Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 We always caught a lot of gills and goggle eye on drop shot rigs. Might be something worth trying. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
jmes Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 We found some gills, Sorry I don't have any pictures They were around 20 feet deep on ledges. You could catch them at all depths but the bigger ones were deeper. We put in at Aunts Creek and caught 23 of them and they were around hands size We caught most of them early 7:00 or so We probably caught well over 200 of them with 5 of us fishing and got most of them on worms ( red wigglers ) but most of the bigger ones came on Orange with a black stripe Beetle Spin All the bigger ones came on transition bank near deep water
Sac River Jim Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 thnx for a good report sounds like had a great time, good friends good fishing and a good mess of gills in the grease just cant be beat!!!
Members Grappling Coach Posted May 26, 2014 Members Posted May 26, 2014 We looked for some gills last night and this morning. We caught some last night in the dam area on a transition bank anywhere from 8 to 18 feet. This morning they had moved and we only caught a few, so we gave up and went bass fishing. I did not find any on my regular spots, such as gravel points, and we had to wade through a lot of smalls to get any decent sized ones.
