I'm curious. I have seen it before, and I'm not saying its not true, I'm just wondering what the AGFC means by saying that Indian Creek is a "hot spot" for striper action.

I have caught a few. Probably just as many non-keepers as keepers though. I took my boy out Sunday night because he has seen all the big fish we were catching that weekend and he wanted to catch one. We had already packed up and left, so we went to Indian Creek. I eventually got him on one and after catching the bigger ones earlier I really had my doubts about that one.

He wanted to keep it and I told him it had to be 20" long. Turned out it was, but still, it was maybe 8lbs.

So anyways, I know there are some there, but maybe I'm not hitting the right area?

The question I have is when they say Indian Creek, do they mean anywhere in the general vicinity of it, or are they talking a more specific area? And besides, I thought it was later in the summer when it becomes a "hot spot"? What gives?

Probably basing on history and if they got Bailey to squeal on where he's catching all his stripers. (Beaver Lake Safari Guide)

Based on my observations of the weekly report and actual conditions...well, um. it's like this: the AGFC needs to get something in ink, and there is this backlog of info on what should be happening, and it's midweek, and the report should be going out, and well...happy hour is at four, and it's 3:25...

Treat it as historical info, and you're fine.

AGFC gets its Public Information from the Obama Administration is my take on it. I have wrote here a few times how unreliable the reports are as are some of the more private reports.... Lets just say when I see a report that say the Stripers are HOT in Prairie Creek, Ventris and Deer Island and then I see the guides all Launching at Rocky Branch and then the same day get text and phone calls and first hand reports from anglers I trust that say they are at Coppermine and I also see them on the Old Road bed at Rocky Branch that I tend to NEVER again believe the report.

If I didn't want crowds on the fish and I was a professional guide making money and needing to get my clients on fish without a hassle I might be inclined to give false information, You know the old saying Buyer beware... well Fishermen beware of reports as well from people that may well have financial motives to be less than truthful.

Nice thing about this site though is you can go back and look at the reports for a very long time and get a pretty dam good idea where they should be. I am trying to make it a little easier but its taking time. Soon there will be a sticky at the top of this page that will have all the reports I can find with good info since the start of the forum so you can easily look up where and when and whats biting.

Yep. What you won't read in their reports;

Accurate locations of stripers, walleye, crappie.

Fish are biting on creek minnows (can't sell them).

The hot bait of the week will never be one the local shops had a run on or are out of.

Timely and useful information.

To be completely honest though, none of that bothers me a bit. Random noise provides good cover.

I can't dance like I used to.

Na.... Hook Line and Sinker always has or tries to keep up on the best baits, you just have to beat a few people there to get them :)

Stripers: its simple bait wise; Live Shad is first then Perch followed by Flicker shad in #7 pearl white would be the only three baits you really need though for good consistency.

Crappie: Bobby Garland baby shad or shad swim-R followed by flicker shad in #5 #6 will put them in the boat and easy on the wallet

Walleye: Flicker shad from #5 to #7 Keitech swing impact and a crawler harness set-up.

Those few baits will produce all year. But for reports this is where I trust for info and seeing more and more people posting is great, those midweek reports will make it easy for the weekend crowd and vise versa. But hey like you said the noise keeps others away from the bite.

I looked at. Mikes report on his website. Even talked to him today. I haven't seen any if the top water action he's talking about. Looked in shaddox and ventris hollow tonight. I just don't see anything. I trolled around with the graph. Threw top water for hours on end. Nothing. Not even a splash. I think they tell you all the places the fish are not!! Then no competiton for them and their guide services. Funny thing, I'm see Big Dog and several other striper boats trolling point 6, the little island to the right of lost bridge south, that shallow point you see on your left when you are heading to point 6 from lost bridge south. It's about half way between lost bridge and point 6. There has been a striper boat there every morning and night this week. I've not seen a single striper guide in ventris, shaddox, rocky branch, none of it. I know I'm not in all spots 24x7 but I have circled all of them enough times this last week you would think I would have seen someone.
