bfishn Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 "Annual Day Use Pass The Corps of Engineers was given the authority by the Congress to collect Day Use fees as part of deficit reduction legislation the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993. The funds generated from these fees are used to help pay the operation and maintenance costs in the Corps’ recreation program." ... I personally don't know how to go about this... ...who can give us information straight from the "Horses Mouth" ??? I guess we are looking for legalities as far as the Corp of Engineers leasing property to private entities. Also what would be the rights of the leasee after acquiring the leased property as far as the general public still being able to use the property without expense above the ordinary expense that the Corp would require?... bfishn Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 With all the commentary of "my taxes paid for that ramp", I got to wondering how much I paid, and who I have to share it with. What I found; Of the federal taxes paid by a family with $50K annual income, $12.79 goes to "land and water management". Considering all the seaports, federal parks and other land and water resources competing for that $12, that one boat ramp begins to look like a very small drop in a very big bucket. Another way to look at it is I "own" one 316 millionth of it. I can't dance like I used to.

Bassmaster21 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I hate to be this guy as I will also try to find out for myself. With so many things being said it is hard to keep track... If I have a CoE annual use pass can I put in at the Cedar Ridge Campground Ramp? Also have any other ramps specifically been talked about being leased out. I know the Masters campground area was shut down a while back. Is that ramp a possible "victim" of being leased out?
Dirtracer35 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 If I have a CoE annual use pass can I put in at the Cedar Ridge Campground Ramp? No. The lady that manages the booth will run her mouth. And if your lucky her boyfriend will be there and run you off. Then he will proceed to launch his boat without a problem although he is not a camper. Can't miss the green and white champion and red dodge dually.
bfishn Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Actually; "Cedar Ridge North Boat Ramp is located in the Cedar Ridge Campground. The boat ramp offers a courtesy dock and restroom. The boat ramp is ONLY available to campers during the April 16 through September 30 camping season, but is open for day-use during all other times of the year. Boaters must pay a $3.00 Day-Use fee from March 1 through November 30 to launch their boat from the ramp. Day-Use permits are available in the honor pay vault near the boat ramp with instructions. Annual Day-Use passes are honored and must be displayed." I had to Google two whole words (corps, Stockton) to find the facts. Way less effort than telling a windy. Details for the other Stockton Corps ramps are at; http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/DistrictLakes/StocktonLake/BoatRamps.aspx I can't dance like I used to.

Walcrabass Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 Bfishn, Thanks for the web sites to have questions answered by an authority. As usual you are much more computer literate than myself and I needed a little help. I ask all the pertinent questions that we were discussing and I am hoping to get some clear replies. I hope it will be enlightening for all of us. Thanks again, Walcrabass ( or maybe Mr. W. ..........??)

Good point Jim. I remembered that when I posted above " any and all revenue from the parks does not go into maintenance or any of the day to day operation, but goes into the General Fund." That's not necessarily a (big) contradiction though. I think most people interpreted "general fund" as being the general US federal coffer. It could mean the Corps' general fund. Or it could be another case of gub'mint doubletalk. :-) I can't dance like I used to.
