ollie Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 The only thing I would like to change in soccer would be the penalty shoot out. When MLS was first started they had a unique way of doing the shootout at the end of a tie. Some of you may know what I'm talking about. Instead of just penalty kicks they had the shooter line up 30 yards out with a time clock running and the goalie could move out of his box. Gave the goalie a fair chance in a penalty shootout. The shooter had like 24 seconds or something like that to convert a goal from 30 yards out. We had to give up that rule in order to compete with others on the national stage. Still like the shoot out though. On The Fly 6 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I have become displeased with this world cup deal, it's starting to take from americas game. went to watch baseball tonight on espn, NOPE, they had some foreign dude getting overly excited about something, not sure what, i couldn't understand the jackwagon. Don't get me wrong I am all for sporting events involving all different countries, but they don't need every stinkin channel. There will be plenty of time for your baseball. It's only a month and a half tournament every 4 years. Baseball is boring every year ;-) "The difference between fly fishers and worm dunkers is the quality of their excuses." -Anonymous "I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering trout." -by Paul O'Neil
On The Fly 6 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Belgium is full of talented players. Hazard, Kompany, Felaini. However, they don't have that chemistry like some of the other big teams out of Europe do. The Dutch are going to be the European team to beat. Germany is always solid, but I see them going down to a South American side. Costa Rica has been the biggest surprise to me. They won a tough group. I've gotten behind on this thread. Hadn't been on the forum in a while. Glad to see the conversation has been ongoing and (mostly) positive. Bring on Belgium!! Quillback Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 As long as the US stays in, I'll stay interested. But if (when) they get knocked out, I'll tune it out until the championship game.
Boobie Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 You have to have some coordination, stamina, and skill to play this sport. Dont bash if you cant get off the couch to get another bag of chips!!!
Quillback Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Word is that Altidore will likely miss the game vs Belgium.
ollie Posted June 29, 2014 Author Posted June 29, 2014 I didn't think that was such a surprise. Hammy pull is hard to come back from that quick. After seeing Columbia play I have to say they impressed me and they might have what it takes to go all the way.
