My wife wants to visit GSMNP with our girls (5 & 7). Started looking this evening and there are no electric hookups in the park. Can anyone recommend a decent looking RV park around Gatlinburg? Preferably with water access. Fishing tips OK too.

5 and 7?? How did that happen so quick?

No idea on RV hookups -- we stayed indoors on the other side of the park. All kinds of trout fishing opportunities there. Need to go up high if you're interested in a native brookie, browns and rainbows have crowded them out down low. Very cool area and a beautiful park.

Looks like you're stuck going to Dolly Wood with the girls. Start searching on the net and then google earth it to see what it looks like. Then enjoy the congeniality from the crowds from our eastern part of the USA!

Not my first choice by any means! Think we have reconfigured for a trip to the Buffalo R. in AR instead....But the Smoky, Rocky, Yellowstone trip has to happen within the next 10....not this year though. Thanks for the advice gents.

There are a few RV parks in Cherokee, NC just over the mountains. And there is great trout fishing there too. Had a great time down there a couple years ago. If you want a cool thing to go see if you do go there look up Mingo Falls. It's a spectacular waterfall that's pretty easy to get to.
