Just spent my first morning on Table Rock. Dodging the storms we only managed two keeper smallmouth. I am comfortable in what tackle to use but still uncertain where to go. Anyone like to point me in the right direction? Any particular points or coves producing better than others right now? We fished south of the 86 bridge this morning in the Brush Creek area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Haven't been down there in nearly a month but just based on basic seasonal patterns for Table Rock I would say work your way north of the 86 bridge towards the dam hitting long run out gravel points. Those types of locations are ALL OVER near the dam and towards KC. You will mostly be picking up smallmouth at nearly a 75% clip if I had to guess with the remainder being KY's. A random largemouth is caught here and there but for me it's a rarity on the gravel stuff. Put the boat in roughly 30ft of water and fan cast and you should pick them up anywhere from 5-35 feet (depending on how early you are out there as they move deeper as the sun gets up). If you can find gravel adjacent to a bluff end or shelf rock hit that too and should pick some there. Not sure what kind baits you are throwing but I'd have a jig, creature bait, topwater and finesse rig (ned, shakey, etc.) on the ready. They are probably getting on the dropshot and/or spoon at this point so if you have electronics and locate a pod on the graph try dropping something on their head and see if you don't get nipped. The vertical stuff you are probably looking anywhere from 30-60 feet of water with them suspended anywhere in that range. This time of year the in my experience the early bird truly gets the worm....be out there by around 5AM and fish til the water gnats run you off or it gets too hot. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. We did not hit the water today - family day at Silver Dollar City. Planning on being on the water tomorrow morning by 5:30. We are going to put in at the state park. Looking forward to meeting some of those table rock smallmouth!

Might take a look at Beardsley Branch just across the lake from the state park. Just north of the dam is Jake's Creek, which also holds a lot of brown fish. Good luck out there.

Nothing in Beardsley. Our place is there. Move along. Move along. Nothing to see. If you do happen to boat one of my pets in Beardsley tell them daddy will be down there in a few weeks.

I would fish North of the bridge and all the way to Indian for smallies.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Grab you an 1/8th oz jig head and a tube green pumpkin, or natural color, and add a little orange maybe. Get out at 30' to 35' on a point throw it toward shallow water you wanna be fishing 12 to 20 fow let it sink then hop it back and hang on, vary your cadence on your hops. Gravel run outs is a good place to start like the islands between the dam and long creek, dont worry that you may be 50 yards or more from the bank. Also try just letting that tube sit on the bottom and watch your line if the wind is not to bad. Might also try the same thing on the bluffs/chunk rock steep drop banks kinda like the one straight across from Long Creek from the bridge to the west past the resturant.

Thanks for the help. We picked up a couple more today off points. 2 off the point at the mouth of Jakes. One on a watermelon YUM wooly bug and another on green pumpkin 4" Kerlin grub. Picked up a couple more in Beardsley Branch on green pumpkin tube dipped in orange. All caught in about 10-12 Feet of water. Havent really had a lot of numbers. Looks like we might want to baxk off the points and get a little deeper.

Highlight of the day was taking my 3 year old son out mid morning and catching a couple of bluegills! His first fish out of a boat!
