Members muzz Posted June 16, 2014 Members Posted June 16, 2014 Our Trip Started Off Really Good I Caught A Few Brown Trout Nothing Big But First Brown On A Fly Rod. Weather Was Outstanding Not A Lot Of People On The River Where We Were. We Decided To Stop And Camp But That's Where It Started Going Down Hill. I Have A Broken Bone In My Hand Prolly Shouldn't Had Gone But I Couldn't Resist So My Hand Was Killing Me From Paddling My Kayak. So We Are Setting Our Tents Up, My Pastor Gets His Machete Out To Cut A Limb Down But Not Realizing How Sharp It Is He Swings It Harder Than Needed. Well It Cuts Through The Limb Like Butter And Goes Right Into The Front Of His Lower Leg. Cuts Him About 7Inches Long And It Splits Open About 2 1/2 Wide.Fortunately We Have A Fireman/Paramedic With Us. No Cell Signal Of Course So Two People Hiking Up The Hills In Opposite DirectionS One Of Them Finds Some Campers A Few Miles Away That Have A Vehicle. So We Put Our Pastor In A Canoe With Two Others And Get Him To These People And Drive Him To A Spot Where The Ambulance Can Get Him 40 Stitches Later He Is Doing Fine. But The Conditions Of The Salem Hospital Is Horrible, No Supplies .
ColdWaterFshr Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Interesting Report Muzz And Although I Disagree With You That The Salem Hospital Is That Bad Since I Was Just There In January After Hiking A Friend Out From The River With A Tonka Truck Lodged Painfully In His Lower Chute We Found The Facilities And Services We Received There To Be More Than Adequate To Deal With His Complicated Issue And Certainly Well Equipped Enough To Deal With Stitching Up A Machete Wielding Pastor With A Swing Like Matt Holliday. Nice Weekend To Be Out Though Right?
Members jibro Posted June 16, 2014 Members Posted June 16, 2014 "Hiking A Friend Out From The River With A Tonka Truck Lodged Painfully In His Lower Chute" Whoa whoa, backup a second. you cant just leave us with that statement, this story begs to be told SG
Members muzz Posted June 16, 2014 Author Members Posted June 16, 2014 Well even The Doctor He Had Said The Same Thing About The Hospital Conditions. He Said About Everything The Doc Asked For They Didn't Have And Had To Substitute Something For It. But Yes Great Time On The Water I Did Break My Fly Rod Though.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 16, 2014 Root Admin Posted June 16, 2014 What's with the caps?? Looks like a settings issue but... there's no settings for that.
Members muzz Posted June 16, 2014 Author Members Posted June 16, 2014 Yeah Thinks It's My Phone Sorry About That.
Members muzz Posted June 16, 2014 Author Members Posted June 16, 2014 Ok Maybe Not, Everyone Is Doing it.
Gavin Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Sounds like a learning experience weekend....Hope all are OK...Not really much story with the Tonka Truck..Our friend has some intestinal issues.....Said he was not feeling good and we figured it was the Makers Mark he drank around camp on New years day.....not Makers Mark...that would have resolved itself quickly. He spent a horrible couple hours puking on a 5 degree evening.....so Coldwater, Slosh, and another Buddy got him to Salem where his wife picked him up. The rest of the trip...uneventful...except for the Blizzard float, and the 6 hour drive back home in the Blizzard...Sunday after New Year.
