Jet Pump And Semi V Boat

I've got a War Eagle boat (1754 Shadow). It comes to a point in the front like V Bottom, but the floor is similar to a standard war eagle. However it has a slight V in the back of the boat as well. It's a great Delta River boat, as it corners on a dime. I'm been throwing the idea around of putting a Jet on it, like a true 40 or 50 to fish in Current River, I"ve heard you need that flat bottom in the back for a jet to work properly, anybody had experience with this? I'd love to have a blazer boat, but if I could put a jet on my old War Eagle, be a whole lot less expensive, and I like the layout of my old boat. Thanks Bret.

You can do it as a "get by" but I wouldn't alter the transom of the boat to accept the jet. Get a motor with a shaft length that eliminates the need to alter the transom if possible.

A V of 6° or so will still handle ok but I doubt that you'll be happy with it on Missouri rivers.

Ok, thanks Wrench, was counting on your response... I'm not sure of the pitch, but figure it's somewhere around that. I'll take a picture today when I'm down there. It's got the transom for the longer shaft moters, I've known guys to put those adjustable jack plates on there.

its easiest to put a jet on a boat with a flat bottom but it is not the best. A slight V is actually ideal because it will filter air away from the pump.

Not familiar with your boat but if it has a center keel that goes all the way back or close to the transom you might have to remove part of it. I have a 1652 Semi V that had a big center keel. Mine is removed up about 24"-30" in front of the transom. Otherwise, I have seen issues where the keel can funnel air, in my case it was in minor turns... My current boat will run as skinny as any flat bottom I have owned or been in.
