It was a very good morning for crappie fishing. Got to my spot about 6:30, fished to 8:30. Got really windy. Made it hard to position boat. Kept 4 between 11-12". Caught numerous fish in the 10" range.

Shooting about as far back as I could shoot and letting it fall almost to the bottom. Sometime a very hard bite, and sometime very subtle. Probably caught 50-60 fish in that time span. Loved the black/chart. Slab busters. I broke off one and tried a bone/chart color, not a nibble. Also tried ice blue with no luck.

Docks were in 18-25'.

The only negative was the fish were pretty lean. You could read a newspaper through the filets. So I'm glad I was only keeping 11's and better.

Good deal ! I'm starting to hear more and more "decent" crappie reports lately. Seems that about 12' is the magic depth for the better ones, with most suspended at that depth over 18-20'.

I wanna go see if I can catch a mess asap.

What I find most interesting in the post above is how it points to different styles of fishing. Some work shallows and some work deep. What it goes to show is. Bass are where you find them. I think here on LOZ the docks provide cooling cover. In turn bluring the line between deep and shallow fishing opertunities. I also know that poor fishing spot or stretches often or not. If i know of a area that most of the fishermen do bot frequent it attacts me. There has got to be bass there but there also has to be a key to it.

I mentioned this before but it really points out how strange the bass behavior might be right under our noses. A week or so ago Wrench was fishing a area just a couple miles up from me. We were fishing alike ways. He was catching his fish out in the bright sunlight in the early afternoon. The bite was over about 5:30 pm for him. With me the bite did not even start until well after 6 PM. I have never noticed anything like that before. I believe there there is a great lesson to be learned from that however if I could just figure out what sparked the time differance.

Well the slump appears to be over. My first fish of the day came out of less than 5' of water flipping docks and it weighed 5.02lbs. I only caught a couple more but man it felt good to feel a tug on the end of my line again! Gonna grab some lunch relax for a little bit, let the tourist pack up/head home, then I am going back out!

I did catch 1 in 22' on a shaky head.

Good to get the stink off! My day wasn't as memorable. I probably didn't catch 15 fish. I fished the same docks that I was nailin them on the morning before, and never caught a one. What I did catch was the same pattern as the day before. Did catch one fish that was 13". Haven't seen too many crappie 13 and over in the last month and a half.

Glad to see that big bass for you.

Went out with my BIL for a couple hours of Jug Fishing (caught small Channels), dropped him back off at the dock around 8pm and I went out

Bass Fishing again and didn't do anything great. Caught a couple of Dinks fishing points with soft plastics. Definitely still off my game....

WharfRat, I had to tow one of your neighbors (Dock 5 about 1/2 way down) back to the dock tonight. They were in a Rendezvous Deck Boat broke down drifting around the middle of the lake by Old Kinderhook cove. Not sure how many people passed them but they were very thankful that we pulled them back. I am a firm believer in Karma... So Mental note to all Niangua arm fisherman, if you see the "Lil Red Xpress" broke down, please tow me home!!! LOL

I has too go tow in my neighbor on her pontoon friday. Got back to the dock and looked down at the key to try to turn it over and the and she had pulled the kill switch loose. 2nd time. She is a big lady and I think it gets squeezed out. I forgot about the first time a few years ago. Only had to go about two miles though round

Had some pretty bad boaters up here this weekend. They violated catch ,running after dark on wave runners ,improper lighting, speeding at night. I seen several that had to be drunk some were totally lost. One group stopped by me to ask directions. I guess they could not read the 2 in high orange letters on the the boat near the license number that spell deaf. But they kept asking. I told them go down lake about 2 miles and turn into that large cove on the left.

Never seen hide nor hair of a patrolman all weekend long.
