10pointer Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 From what I know they can remove it and it functions fine without it. I havent had a single issue with mine since that piece was removed. Im not a reel expert by any means otherwise I would do it myself but I dont have issues...yet...
BFTMASTER Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Perhaps my taste needs refined but I really enjoy my Falcon Original 6' Light Action although my Falcon Original 6'6" in the Med. Light has a similar action with a little stiff backbone. I also have a Fenwick River Elite 7'6" that is B.A. for jig fishing from the bank or wading. In a boat it is just to long I agree with the Shimano Spinning reel remark. They are super smooth until one day....not. I have found that the sticky action comes from the spool skirt gasket getting pulled between the spool and frame. Once I remove this they work okay again, but nothing to protect that vital area and you have to clean it out periodically.
troutgnat Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Thanks to Ham I second the Nano!!! Darren Sadler "Fishing is an Education...Often the fish 'school' me, yet I do not complain. I just keep going to class!"
