For any of you who like to see what is coming up for new tackle, FLW will be posting "live" updates from the ICAST show.

This is the largest, trade-only tackle show in the world--seriously--and this year may be the largest ever held. There are over 475 exhibitors on the conventional side and 115 (I think that is correct) on the fly-fishing side--the IFTD show. This is the second year the shows have been held together.

The show starts Wednesday the 16th, and FLW coverage will be posted on the site starting around 10 am, CDT. The coverage is designed to highlight specific products that the reporters think is unique enough to be of interest to bass fishermen, whether it's a new design or a twist on an old one.

Can anybody go to this or does one have to be an exhibitor, vendor, etc?

Quill-- But how about this--are you sure you don't need to try it? It's the new Rapala BX Wake Bait in a 13 size. post-14803-0-30784200-1404942552.jpg

Sorry about photo quality; I used my phone.

Hojo--ICAST is restricted to exhibitors and their representatives, American Sportfishing Association members and working media. I think the IFTD side has comparable restrictions. The idea is that this is a trade show and not one intended for consumers. However, there is enough media at the show doing things like FLW is this year so that non-attendees can get a filtered view of new products almost immediately.

I've been told since my original post is that FLW will start posting product info possibly as early as Tuesday evening. The New Product Showcase opens at 4pm EDT that day, so there should be some things online soon after. I'll attend a new event--X Tackle--being held at Lake X (Mercury's old test lake) on Tuesday, so I'll be contributing things from there in my assigned categories, assuming there is anything.

Dang it, I knew there would be some lure I would want. I like the looks of that Rapala wake bait. Sure would like to know if it will wake at the end of a long cast, or if it is like a Redfin a far as not easily waking until you get it close to the boat.

Well, I won't be on the water for a couple of weeks now. But after that I can let you know. I've fished a couple of the shallow BX minnows, and they look like a herring swimming along. I could tell you more, but I got sidetracked chasing walleyes...
