rps Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 The last two trips out were miserable. A few small fish and that was it. This morning I hoped a change was due, and was very happily surprised when it did. I caught four walleye and lost a fifth. Three of the ones I caught were 19, 21, and 24 inches. I found them on a rocky wooded point, 26 to 28 feet deep. I used a pink/blue/chartreuse crawler harness at 1.2 mph. I wanted to keep fishing, but the boat traffic became dangerous, so I came in.
Feathers and Fins Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Nice catch and smart move to get off before you got hurt https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
rps Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 Several of my favorite locations are in the direct line of fire for the tube and ski boat crowd.
Feathers and Fins Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I feel for you, we had the same deal last night. I swore my boat had a sign on it that said get as close as possible to wake... Hey where are you getting those pills at? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
rps Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 A place called Walleye Supply. Currently I am tying with a 1.5 inch Macks Smile blade in front of a bead in front of a large torpedo float. I use the bobber stops to keep the float off the worm. If I am making a slow death rig, I incorporate your swivel idea. Otherwise I tie on a size 1 worm hook.
Feathers and Fins Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I know you use Braid but how are you liking the swivel in front ? I don't run braid and wondered how it did with that. I started calling that rig the Spindancer lol. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Quillback Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Nice bunch of fish, I hear you on the traffic in the White channel, it's annoying during the week, can't imagine what it's like on the weekend.

I started calling that rig the Spindancer lol. I use braid to my bottom bouncer, but I make the harnesses with 10 or 12# mono. Braid harnesses tangle easily because the line is so fine and limp. You should see the shimmy when you combine a smile blade with the slow death hook on the swivel.

Quillback Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Have you every driven in Mexico? No, and probably never will. But I've seen videos.
