jdmidwest Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I was sitting outside in shorts awhile ago grilling some brats and enjoying a cold brew and got kinda chilly. Came inside and took a nice hot shower. Sitting here wondering if I need to cover the maters tonight. Might have to switch over to heat tonight or grab a quilt. 2 weeks out of the last three with nights down in the 50's, low humidity. Nice cool breezes. AC is off. I know I have been pretty hard on POTUS the past few years, but it looks like he has solved the global warming problem. Or maybe it is some of the predictions some were saying back in 08 finally coming true, Hell is freezing over! I will take this weather any July. But, I bet this will really screw up the fishing for a few days. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I was always told, can't confirm, that tomatoes don't like it above 80 or below 60 at night. Supposedly they won't set the blossoms if too cool and they won't blossom if it's too hot at night. I know when I was living in Oklahoma my tomatoes would go dormant in August and after the nights cooled off they would produce into November. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
rps Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Global warming/climate change (irrespective of POTUS) has and will confuse all of us who remember the 50's and 60's. In the mean time I am finding it difficult to apply what I have learned.
jdmidwest Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Having been here 50 years plus, I remember jackets of a night on or around the 4th of July many times. But this much cool weather in July is great. I also remember jackets and frost in Sept., and snow of greater amounts of a foot on a regular basis in the winter. Maybe we will get some of that too. I really hate hot humid weather. It just saps the life out of you. I would rather freeze to death than die of a heat stroke. Hog Wally Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I on the other hand would rather it be hot as crap
ozark trout fisher Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I am planning to leave for Colorado in a bit over a week, and there is a legitimate (even probable) chance the weather out there (about 7000 ft above sea level) is going to be warmer than it is here in Mid-mo. In other words, this is a weird summer we're having here. The fishing has been pretty good, though, so it's hard to complain.
Haris122 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I on the other hand would rather it be hot as crap Same here. Hot humid St. Louis summers is what I want, especially after a winter that lasted all of winter and spring.

It's cooler than average where I am right now, so it's obviously colder everywhere on the planet and it will be for decades to come" I suppose that one will be spinning for a long, long time.

Haven't had the AC on yet either because we always cool off at night. Weather just broke today. Not sure how long this will last, but tonight is definite cool snap.

This line of reasoning is so obviously incorrect (and yet used so much) that it seems not worth pointing out anymore.
