nathanhooper Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Either the fishing is really sloooooooow.....or you all have found some sweet honey holes. I'm going out this afternoon after work. As long as the wife does not have some other major plans for me that is. Figure I am going to layout a course and just troll over some new, and old, water. My objective is to cover ground today, hoping I'll run into a school along the way. Think I'll run bucktails on my downriggers and I should be able to run two more rods straight out the side with some deep divers, as long as they don't seem to interfere with the downriggers. Any experience with these cool fronts like this that blow through? I wouldn't think that it would effect them much as it will a while to change the water temp a whole lot. But I don't have too much experience on this.
Feathers and Fins Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Summer sold fronts don't seem to bother them to much. think Long points in 30ft of water minimum depth. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

J-Doc Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I just got my new rig yesterday so reports should be "flodding" in within the coming month after the motor is broken in. Need marine repair? nathanhooper Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Lol. I wish I had the drive for crappie, they sure do taste better, but alas I have my mind set on hunting down these stripes. Doc...come on....new rig and no pics to show.... Hey, trolling is a good way of breaking in a motor aint it?
nathanhooper Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Thanks F&F, Ill launch at Indian Creek like always, but am planning my route to take me up to near LBS and then back around the other side of the lake home. 30' minimum eh? I was thinking about the same, since I'll be going out in the daylight instead of night fishing. I've heard they have been caught in water that was over 100' deep on the channel. Suspended of course. I just figure that the more water I cover the more I'll be able to see. I wont stay in one place till I see a mess of them on sonar. I have watched countless videos of peoples sonar and striper fishing. I have seen what they see a few times. I figure there has to be a school or two in my neck of the woods somewhere, just a matter of tracking them down.
nathanhooper Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Ok, just started plotting it out. Guess I am going to have to rethink it a little. So far I got 10 miles plotted and I'm not even back near the dock yet. At 2 mph...well, that's not going to work is all. So, I'll take your advice F&F. I'll just plot out the points I'll hit, looks like there are 7-10 of them, and spend a little bit at each one looking around. I think I just need to take a day off work and fill the tank up and start cruising.
Quillback Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Crappie...... Of course stripers. Lol Well wiseguy I thought he might be going after wallies.
J-Doc Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Crappie better than striper???? Um....if you say so. Blackend striper is as good as grouper! Boat pics?? Nope. Soon as I do that I'll have people following me like they do F&F. The location (and identity in this case) of the lockbox is only known by me and the Joint Chiefs of Staff" - Al Gore. In other words, I ain't spillin' the beans! Lol Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks.
