Feathers and Fins Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 LMAO... I see where they acknowledged they broke the law but basically saying " ITS OK THE POLICE EVEN LET US " This just goes to show that if Law Enforcement would actually start enforcing the laws these incidents would probably stop! I would also be willing to bet that they probably ran past the fishermen more than one time to get the response they did, I might be wrong but im betting not. Same tune I have said before if LEO WOULD GET OUT AND WRITE UM THE BS WHOULD STOP! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

Same tune I have said before if LEO WOULD GET OUT AND WRITE UM THE BS WHOULD STOP! I agree the highway/water patrol needs to be on the water as well the roads of this state. I see less presents on the water ever since the water and highway patrol were combined into one force........I believe they were combined so they can be used on the highways to save money by not hiring more highway patrolmen.......
Members AAD Posted August 5, 2014 Members Posted August 5, 2014 Allow me to clarify, in my original post I believe I indicated the WB was not fault free. F and F, you are probably spot on, maybe it was not the first and only time that boat passed that fisherman. I wonder if the other guys fishing the tournament slowed when they passed this guy? If the law stated when making a wake, that would apply to all boats, not just WBs. I imagine plenty of bass boats went by this guy on plane. And yes, I realize that a bass boat on plane would not create the same wake that a WB would while towing, but from what was stated, the law would apply to any boat creating a wake.
Feathers and Fins Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Yes it would, and does apply it is a safety law and one in place for a reason. I like to ski on occasion and NO WAKE is also typically followed in most regs by under 5mph and as a skier I have never been pulled at that speed and been able to stay up. maybe a kid could but not an adult. Now there is also a rule about anchoring or being and obstruction in a navigation channel, I didn't look for that lakes particular rules or the states but a fishermen in a nav channel would be breaking the law as well. Looking at the 9 second video that was posted unsure why but they did. That aint no wake and aint no 5mph no way in heck! Also looking at the video the map and pictures they were within 100 ft of docs period and that is a no wake zone and the skier should not have been up at all. Also from pics the boat is throwing a wake. All this goes back again to enforcement NOT enforcing. Sooner or later one of these idiots is going to get hurt at night and they will shut our lakes down for night use or they enough dock owners will get damages and then no boating within 100 feet will be established making dock fishing illegal from boats. The writing is on the wall we already cant fish marina's whats next! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
JohnF52 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 +1 +2 BTW, I have not observed any wake boats or skiiers this year on two day trips to the Arkansas River at Ozark.
Members basscat123 Posted August 6, 2014 Members Posted August 6, 2014 I was in Big Creek Saturday evening and was doing some graphing in the dynamite point area. there were at least three very large boats pulling kids on sleds and what not from the mouth of brown's branch on up the creek on past watson's cove. One of the boats dumped a kid off very close to where we were so i idled over to see if he had any idea of the danger of running up and down that section of the creek pulling kids, and not knowing there were trees everywhere just under the water. he informed me that he lived somewhere there in the back of big creek. i said well you have not any knowledge of the water back here or do not care for the welfare of your child otherwise you would not be pulling them over a tree just like that one right there by your boat that is six inches under the water. that did not bother him in the least, as they went right back to doing what they had been. what i should have done was to get the boat numbers and turn them in for child endangerment. nothing like playing russian roulette with your child. bo Bo, I was in the very upper end of Big Creek Friday night and believe it or not a boat pulling 2 kids on a tube made a big circle up there while on plane and headed back downstream. I am talking 2 to 3 feet of water in the middle of the creek where they ran thru, absolutely crazy. So shallow there that I had to idle only with the motor trimmed up to exit the area. Their boat actually mudded up the middle of the creek in the process. I had a jet ski up there too! People just don't have any sense at all
fishinwrench Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Hey, if it wasn't for folks like that there wouldn't be a near good enough market for replacement props and shafts. That is a market that employs thousands across the country, and one of them might be a future son/daughter inlaw. So please let them do their thing. It is your duty as a member of society to smile, wave, and encourage them any way you can.

Most all of our stringent laws on the water are from activities from Lake of the Ozarks, 30 mph night and etc. Looks like they ran out of room at party cove and they have moved South. Look out for more stringent laws to come Boy's and tighten up your seat belts!!
Jason R. Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 "Yep, been there... a few times. Almost identical stories as above. Had a fisherman power casting at us from a boat, luckily no one was hooked. Same story as Chatt, had a boat full of pissed off dudes and went over there. We made our point clear and he didn't want it. Then had some idiots hitting golf balls at us from their backyard. I was riding and darn near got hit. I'm talking a few feet away. I dropped the rope, driver saw what was happening and rushed back to me. We pulled out the water ballon launcher and sent a couple full beers into their boat house and in the backyard at them, let them have it over the PA and got out of there. Both incidents were completely unprovoked.. Crazy people. Glad nobody got seriously hurt in y'alls stories so far, but as mentioned it could have easily been another story for a few of us." I thought this excerpt from that site was awesome. http://flyinthesouth.com/

If the Water Patrol does not get on the water and do their job in enforcing the laws..................
