Fish24/7 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 658.91 stained light wind Daylight until about 10-10:30. Up the feeder creeks again. Lots of food around. Immediately a large group of minnows gobbled down some Texas toast I tossed in the water while I ate a breakfast sandwich before launching. Fish were already busting on top when I arrived and were scattered up and down about a 200yd stretch of creek channel. There were white egrets and blue herons walking up and down the banks fishing and that's a good sign. After using topwaters and doing well I wanted to show them something that I thought would really "match the hatch " and maybe get a few big bites so I used a YUM flashmob jr with the tiny blades and finesse swimbaits. The bass were active and paid no attention to me in the canoe. Man did they really want that jr. rig! They were eating this years shad fry, about 3/4"-1" long, sometimes biting within just a couple feet of me for some great visual fun! Was fishing that rig on 12lb mono and a 7'mh rod fan casting in 6-12fow. keepin it up in the zone.Everything was released.
Guest Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Shhhhh.......that A rig is only a late winter early spring bite.
Quillback Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Good deal, I am one of those that would not think of throwing the rig right now.
