Fishslayer88 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 How do you mark the middle of a trotline? The middle of my lines are on the bottom.
Feathers and Fins Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Simple mono line ran to a float. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
WettinLine Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 You need to relax Francis. I was a joke. All you do is act like an asshat. Yes I did breed and all 3 of my daughters are more intelligent than you. Yes we know you are perfect. You tell us all over and over and over again. You the dip$h1t taking about shooting boats. I still reserve the right to always be right, it makes me American.
Flysmallie Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 You the dip$h1t taking about shooting boats. I still reserve the right to always be right, it makes me American. Yeah but I was JOKING. And I apologize for being rude. That was uncalled for. I'm not in the right frame of mind to be arguing about trot lines or anything else. But just to be clear I would never shoot at a boat or anything else. I don't even carry a gun. Â Â
stuartsx5 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 here is link to an article from the mdc magazine discussing trot lines. if you read, it clearly states open water lines have to be marked with a buoy on at least one end besides being clearly marked with your id and license number. so, you you have a bank line that just dead ends on the bottom, you would not need a float to identify the line. lines that start off the bank and end off the bank are required to have a marker float on at least on end. it is very easy to spot a line that is tied up on the bank, and easy to avoid. lines that originate off the bank and are set at or below the water level are not easily seen and can not be avoided. they are also a danger to anyone that might be in the water. http://mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2005/03/watch-those-lines?page=0,1 bo Merc, the way I read that is that is a suggestion. It isn't in the wildlife code so I think it is just a tip. The wildlife code requires only a tag marking your contact info or conservation I.D. number. The tags I use for jug lines would also be legal on a trot line but would be very hard to see if I tied it up in a tree above the waterline. Earl Stuart fishin is livin

You all good, I don't take this site and the spats personally. I do believe some folks do, its just not me, take care and fish on!
WettinLine Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 Simple mono line ran to a float. If you do use this method it a great way of marking your line with your information, take a sharpie and write your info on the bottle or wrap it in duct tape and toss on your Herbie Hancock. Reflective trap can also be used on this marker, it help you find it at night and helps boater avoid it.
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I haven't laid one in awhile, but if I ran to deep water I tied a smaller weight, enough to hold the line down, in the middle and if it wasn't very deep a small bottle or something coming off it. It was more of a reminder to other s than any thing else. Today I would use a piece of poodle noodle. I didn't pull my line unless I wasn't going to be back for several weeks, but I did pull the hooks. I never ran my lines very deep, I depended more on the fish coming shallow during the night. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
