mic Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Anyone fished the lakes in Horseshoe State Park in Il? The one in St. Louis area, not the one down south. I drive by it a lot on my way to work, and thinking about trying it out.
moguy1973 Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 From what I hear and have read its full of rough fish. There are warnings not to eat fish out of there too due to obvious reasons. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
mic Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 That sucks... but understandable. Looks like a good panfish pond from the road.
WHARFRAT Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Had fished there a few times many years ago. It was or probably still isn't too bad for crappie and gills. If memory serves me correctly, I think if we caught quite a few crappie, but only one or two was over 9". We fished from a boat, but I do think there a lot of access from the banks. @lozcrappie
Greasy B Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Much of lake is 4' deep and featureless. The west end off of Bend road looks a little better. A fellow I know told me there is some depth along the north bank but it looks to me like the north bank is part of the many slag piles from the coke plant. Last time I drove down Bend road i ran across a prostitute plying her trade. In season there are is a lot of duck hunting on the lake but I can't imagine eating anything that ever swam in or drank the water. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
WHARFRAT Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Yeah, I think its better known for waterfowl hunting anymore, or waterfowl sky-busting. @lozcrappie
