Regarding Thomas Hill Reservoir--

I've been curious about the status of the power plant when someone mentioned the plant was not producing power and there was no significant warm water discharge. I was hoping to experience this fishery, this winter.

Today, I called the corporate office for Associated Electric Coop, here in Springfield, that owns the facility to ask them about the status. A very nice lady gave me the phone # of the facility, which is in central MO, near Moberly. When I called the facility, the lady there said "I'm not allowed to tell you anything about the status or if/when the facility is producing power." When I asked why, she said she couldn't explain any further.

I'm assuming this must have something to do with security/911/potential terrorism risks. ???

Does anyone know any more current info about the status of the power plant and if it is still down?

Also, it would be very helpful and appreciated if someone could provide the name(s) and contact info for any bait/tackle shops in the Moberly area. That should be a good source of info about Thomas Hill Res. I searched and found several "sporting goods" dealers there, but was hoping someone could short cut the time consuming process of calling a bunch of them.

Thanks in advance for any and all info you can provide.

Hey Bill.

The power plant gave me the number to call. It might be the same number you called but here it is anyway.

417-881-1204.

Funny thing is, when I called a couple weeks ago and used the number given on the MDC website I got the mining division at TH and the guy says "let me just look, yeah we're shut down, but here is the number to call for power generation" When I called that number he said we can't give out that info.

He told me to call the number above. I like the mining division guy better.

Let me know what you find out.

SIO3,

The 417 number you were given is their corporate office in Springfield, about a mile from my house. They were no help, except to provide the office # for the Thomas Hill facility.

I'd say keep the mining division # you were given.

It all seems very odd why they would be so secretive about their facility, but I suppose it is security/terrorism related.

My next efforts will include seeking some bait/tackle shop contact info in the area, and looking up the name/# of the local MDC agent for that county.

What we need is to get a few guys that fish there regularly to get actively involved with this forum.

Anyone out there know of someone that fishes the Thomas Hill discharge area regularly during the winter, that also has a computer?

Any help or suggests would be appreciated.

Hey, Bill B.,

Call the Kaseyville Store at 660-777-3525. The store is located at the northwest end of the lake. They sell a bit of bait & tackle, and serve breakfast to a lot of the locals who fish TH. They'll give you a conditions report.

Thanks for the response and requested info.

I'll definitely give them a call, soon.

I'm sure others will note this contact#, too.
