brittsnbirds Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Brittsnbirds things sure change, and not for the better. I can remember when northern Cass county schools were squeaky clean. Of course the county wasn't all that populated then and Harrisonville was the metropolis. Yeah Ness, I can remember when there was one high school in JOCO and 103rd was lined with farms. Lenexa had about 2 or 3 blocks that were paved and one city marshall. Wow Wayne you are dating yourself. Your right Wayne. Now Belton is the largest City in Cass with Raymore running a close second. You really can't differentiate the difference going south out of KCMO through Hickman Mills, Grandview to Belton/Raymore. It's all grown together. Grandview is land locked, surrounded by KCMO and Belton. The only thing going on for them is IHOP (International House of Prayer). They are buying everything up but no tax base going back. Next town is Peculiar and they have annexed way north as well. I guess they want some of the action. When they did the 71 hiway thing through KCMO it allowed the ATA to bus people from down town out to Belton. They put in bus stops as well. That lasted awhile but disappeared (thank god). I remember as well the JOCO expansion. I remember in 1978 when Olathe south limits was 103rd street, and the east was MurLen maybe, Black Bob was gravel.
XP 590 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 WARNING! WARNING! Thread Detour, Thread Detour......
ness Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Britts -- I work in Grandview, and that whole IHOP thing is quite a phenomenon. They've built a lot, taken over a shopping center, and their members have moved in from around the country and bought up houses. Wayne -- that's going way back! Farthest thing back in JOCO I remember was when Metcalf around 95th didn't have anything but the 'French Market', now a closed K-Mart. That predated 435, and I remember when they opened that up. Any action at Circle J? John
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Any action at Circle J? I was by there Saturday and nothing was stirring. I wonder if the new owners has plans for a change, or if he's going to keep the status qua? That ground isn't the best even by west Laclede county standards, so I can't see where he can do much more with it. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members gwh Posted January 9, 2015 Members Posted January 9, 2015 Gov signs to stay out were up at the end of Dec. IRS web site says that winner of auction has 60 days from sale date to pay. So money due by Dec 19. Then the IRS will issue title. Not sure how long that takes. Might be March before folks can get to there campers.
