Thanks Phil! Nope, not Taney, since there are closer rivers to Rolla. I don't think I've fished Taney since I was 6 years old... Been meaning to fix that, just haven't had the chance.

And it was odd that she didn't break off- the line was wrapped around her maxilla, thought that would have sheared it off for sure.

As for the location, here's the link to the full album. Not much of a guessing game, but still fun.

Awesome fish, great pictures and report.

That "new hole" has been there for a over a year now. We have caught 1 or 2 small browns out of it, and I was hucking meat once there and had something take a swing and a miss. I need to get out soon and fish.

I've been gone for a couple years, so that makes sense. Should have known how old it was based on the amount of tackle hanging in the branches above it, but I was just itching to fish it and didn't think about it. And I hooked something I thought was a log, so I went in to try and free it up, then realized it was a fish once I kicked it with my boot. No clue what size, though. Probably a rainbow, based on where it was holding and the tight head shakes- browns generally have a wider, slower thrash.

Wanted to go again today, but I just got done with homework and it gets dark too early right now. Guess I'll have to tie flies and plan on next week instead.
