It's almost mudbug season. I will give it a try. It probably makes a little different noise than they are used to hearing. If I do bad I will let you know. If I slay em on it you might not hear a thing. Ha

Sore Thumbs, you are correct it's just about time, normally right around THANKSGIVING is when I start throwing them, as always the water temp. will influence the BASS & how quickly they will be on them. Give the old MUD BUG a shot & I think you will like the results. But now don't get to hooked on em as with them no longer in production they are hard to find @ a reasonable price. Also, what BO said about the old BOMBERS is " 100% + RIGHT ON " !!!!!!! After the MUD BUG it's my 2nd. favorite. Not only the wooden ones but the plastic ones also. Can't tell you how many BASS I have caught on those, but again, NO LONGER MADE. Like they say " THEY JUST DON'T MAKE EM LIKE THAT ANYMORE " !!!!!!!

I might suggest putting light-wire trebles on those Mudbugs and getting yourself a good retriever. My system is a hound dog-style retriever sold by BPS that has several little chains dangling from it. I took a broken rod and sawed it off where the blank goes into the ferrule and mounted an old Garcia reel on it spooled with 80-pound catfish mono (cheap at Walmart). Then I tied the retriever to that. Makes a great way to neatly store your retriever without that godawful twine they come with tangling up in everything else in your storage box.

They carry these at both HLS stores in NW Arkansas so you don't have to order from BPS.

I have the same set up with 80lb braid Champ. Money saver for sure. G. Bohannan had one his boat and I got one a few days after I fished with him. I was sold after he retrieved several old Wiggle Warts.
